Workshop on drama script creation held at Sindh University

The Department of Media and Communication Studies, University of Sindh, Jamshoro organized a one-day workshop on “Drama script creation” on Tuesday, which aimed at enhancing students’ creative and professional writing skills for television and digital platforms.

Renowned drama and screenwriter Rafique Agha served as the resource person for the session. Agha, known for his acclaimed Sindhi and Urdu dramas in the national media industry, briefed students on character building, dialogue writing, plot development and the broader art of storytelling.

He urged young writers to prioritize originality, cultural relevance and emotional depth to create meaningful and impactful scripts.

The session was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Pahore, who welcomed the guest speaker, faculty members and participants and noted that hands-on learning opportunities played a crucial role in preparing media students for the creative industry.

Prof. Bashir Ahmed Memon, Dr. Farheen Qasim, Mr. Jan-e-Alam Solangi and Ms. Aisha Jamali actively contributed to the discussion, sharing insights on scriptwriting techniques and the evolving demands of television and digital production.

The workshop was organized through the efforts of Fida Bhagat, Fareed Jamali, Anjum Ara Laghari and Waheed Rahi Bhatti, whose coordination ensured the successful execution of the event.

In his concluding remarks, Chairman of the Department of Media and Communication Studies Dr. Muhammad Qasim Nizamani extended a vote of thanks to the resource person, faculty and students for their active participation.

He praised the organizers for arranging an engaging and professionally enriching session that effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practice.

At the end of the event, Sindhi cultural gift- Ajrak was presented to the guest speaker as a gesture of appreciation by the workshop organizers.
