SU VC felicitates taekwondo medalists; awards cash prizes from his pocket
Gold and silver medal–winning students of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, who excelled at the 5th Alliance Taekwondo Open Championship 2025 in Karachi, called on Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri on Tuesday.
The team was accompanied by the Director Sports, the Head Coach and the Coach. The Vice-Chancellor presented cash prizes as a token of appreciation for their outstanding achievement after the girls’ team secured overall second position in the championship, winning two gold and six silver medals.
VC Dr. Marri awarded Rs 3,000 each to gold medalists Jawahar Nizamani (BS Physical Education–IV) and Mahnoor Khan (BS Physical Education–I).
He also presented Rs 2,000 each to silver medalists Naba Bhatti (BS English Applied Linguistics–II), Zaina Affan (BS Physical Education–I), Aqsa Dharejo (BS Physical Education–I), Elsa Dharejo (BS Zoology–II) and Safiya Jamali (BS Physiology–II).
In a gesture of personal encouragement, the Vice-Chancellor additionally gave Rs 10,000 to the team’s head coach Abdul Rahim Khan and Rs 5,000 to coach Sheharyar Siddiqui from his own pocket.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Fateh Marri congratulated the athletes and praised their dedication and said that the team had brought pride to the university through their discipline and hard work.
He said the achievement reflected the growing strength of sports culture on campus, adding that the university would continue to support talented students who demonstrated excellence.
He further said that the success of the girls' team was an inspiration for other students to pursue sports with passion and commitment.
