
Independence celebrations continue on fourth consecutive day as SU’s Model School launches tree plantation drive; takes out rally
The independence celebrations at the University of Sindh Jamshoro remained underway on the fourth consecutive day as its Dr. N.A Baloch Model School Hyderabad hosted a spirited tree plantation event as part of the two-week festivities of August 14 under the theme of “Marka-e-Haq” here on Monday.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and national pride among students and faculty alike.
The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh Professor Dr. Khalil ur Rehman Khoumbati, Chief Conservator of Forests, Social Forestry Department, Sindh Zulfiqar Ali Memon and Principal of Dr. N.A. Baloch Model School Dr. Sheeraz Ilyas Shaikh, Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Laghari, Dr. Khalid Hussain Lashari, Dr. Rafique Ahmed Lashari, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Nizamani, Dr. Muhammad Ali Nizamani, Dr. Sardar Shah, Dr. Abdul Hameed Panhwar, Dr. Punhal Khan Lashari and Dr. Muhammad Younis Laghari.
In a symbolic gesture of unity and sustainability, the dignitaries and faculty members planted Neem saplings on the school premises. Their actions reflected a shared commitment to building a cleaner, greener future for the country. The activity also served as a learning opportunity for students to understand the critical importance of environmental conservation.
The event concluded with an energetic rally led by students and teachers, who marched from the school to the Hyderabad Press Club while chanting patriotic slogans like “Pak Army Zindabad” and “Pakistan Paindabad.”
The rally culminated in an inspiring address by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalil ur Rehman Khoumbati, who praised the spirit of the youth and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in nurturing both the nation and the environment.
He said that planting trees was not only a tribute to our homeland, but also a moral duty towards our future generations.
“Let this campaign remind us that patriotism is not limited to slogans, it is also rooted in action that benefits our land, air, and people,” he said.
Dr Khoumbati further said that by planting saplings, Sindh University was sowing the seeds of hope, resilience and responsibility, adding that he was proud of his young students for taking part in the noble cause.
