Independence celebrations enter 8th day at SU as affiliated law colleges join festivities

The University of Sindh, Jamshoro continued its Independence Day celebrations on Friday under the theme “Marka‑e‑Haq” (Mark of Truth), with its affiliated institutions—Indus Law College and Hyderabad Law College—organizing separate events.

The two-week celebration, which began on August 1, was launched by Vice‑Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalil‑ur‑Rehman Khoumbati, who led a vibrant walk and a tree-planting drive on campus, underscoring the university’s commitment to patriotism and environmental stewardship.

At Indus Law College, Dr. Khoumbati was joined by Registrar Professor Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko, Dean of the Faculty of Law Ahmed Luqman Memon, and Deputy Registrar Nadeem Butt.

He emphasized the importance of including affiliated law colleges in the schedule of independence festivities and reaffirmed the significance of this year’s extended observance.

He said that Pakistan’s military success included the downing of six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales—as a symbol of resilience.

Cultural enrichment was provided by live performances of national songs, which added to the joyous atmosphere.

Later, Dr. Khoumbati proceeded to Hyderabad Law College, where he was warmly received by Director Sajjad Chandio.

Students delivered heartfelt speeches, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by earlier generations for the creation of Pakistan.

The Marka‑e‑Haq celebrations, featuring cultural, educational, and environmental activities across Sindh, will continue until August 14, culminating in large-scale province-wide ceremonies to mark the 78th Independence Day.
