SU marks independence celebrations with patriotic festivities in Jamshoro, Thatta

Sindh University’s Institute of Gender Studies and Thatta campus separately marked Pakistan’s independence celebrations with patriotic fervor under the theme “Marka-e-Haq”.

In Jamshoro, the event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, followed by an inspiring address from Director Dr Ameer Ali Buriro, who underscored the historical significance of the day and called for a prosperous and inclusive Pakistan.

A symbolic plantation activity in the institute’s garden highlighted the link between independence, sustainability and environmental care, with faculty, staff and students actively participating. The programme concluded with prayers for the country’s unity and prosperity.

Meanwhile, the Sindh University Campus Thatta continued its independence festivities with a spirited Sports Day, featuring cricket, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess and tug of war.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Misbah Bibi Qureshi inaugurated the competitions, commending the sportsmanship of participants.

Faculty members, staff and students turned out in large numbers, cheering teams and enjoying the vibrant campus atmosphere.

The celebrations at both campuses will continue until August 14, blending patriotism with cultural, academic, and recreational activities to inspire national pride and unity among the youth.
