9341 candidates take SU test for admissions to bachelor degree programs in 1st phase
The University of Sindh, Jamshoro conducted the pre-entry test for Bachelor’s degree programmes for the academic year 2026 on Sunday.
As many as 9,341 candidates including 1,801 female students appeared in the first phase of entrance test out of a total of 22000 aspirants for almost 11000 seats. The test started at 10:30am and lasted 90 minutes.
Candidates from 14 districts of Sindh— including Dadu, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Karachi, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Khairpur, Larkano, Matiari, Naushahro Feroze, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur and Sukkur — as well as from other provinces took the test.
SU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri reviewed the test process and personally supervised it. He expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made by various committees for the exam.
A press briefing was also arranged on the occasion where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri briefed journalists from both electronic and print media regarding the arrangements and facilities for the candidates.
Talking to the journalists, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Marri attributed the smooth, orderly and peaceful holding of the test to the ‘best strategy’ adopted for the major event. He pointed out that holding the test in two phases helped avoid mess owing to a huge number of candidates and also keep the expenses at a lower side.He noted that the number of candidates this year was higher than in the previous year, which showed students’ and their parents’ trust in the standard of education maintained by the institution. He said adequate facilities had been provided to the candidates at the entry test.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Marri said that the University of Sindh had always prioritized merit, transparency, and equal opportunity in the admission process.
“The pre-entry test is an important step towards ensuring that every candidate is judged purely on merit,” he said and added that the university had made foolproof arrangements to provide a peaceful and comfortable environment for all test-takers.
He added that the University’s admission process had been fully digitized to ensure transparency and efficiency. “From online registration to result processing, the system is automated, leaving no room for irregularities,” the Vice-Chancellor explained.
Dr. Marri further appreciated the efforts of the faculty, administrative staff, volunteers and security personnel for their teamwork in organizing such a large-scale event smoothly.
“Our team worked day and night to make this possible. I am proud of their dedication,” he remarked.
He also thanked the media for their continuous support in promoting the university’s educational initiatives and informed that the test results will be announced soon on the university’s official website.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor along with Pro-VC SU main campus Prof Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, PVC SU campus Thatta Professor Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi, PVC Laar campus Badin Prof. Dr Khalil ur Rehman Khoumbhati, Registrar Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko, Director Admissions Prof Dr Ayaz Keerio, Convener of Coordination Committee Prof. Dr. Arfana Begum Mallah, Sajid Qayoom Memon, Prof. Amar Sindhu, Dr. Tania Mushtaque, Syed sajjad Hussain Shah, Muhammad Ali Ghanghro, Dr. Pasand Ali Khoso, Zulfiqar Ali Rustamani, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Nizamani, Dr. Muhammad Younus Laghari, Engineer Shabir Abbasi, Engineer Tanveer Gulfam, Dr. Rashid Ali Khahro, Dr. Panhal Khan Soomro, Ajwad Ahmed Bhatti, Dr Nanak Ram and other officers and staff members visited various centers to review the arrangements.
The team inspected test centers, security arrangements, parking facilities and volunteer duties, and issued instructions to ensure that all candidates are provided full facilities and guidance.
For candidates’ assistance, 140 young volunteers were deputed to guide them to their respective blocks. The Transport Section also issued its plan, under which point buses from different routes of Hyderabad and Kotri started operating at 7:30 a.m. The route plan was uploaded on the University’s website and social media pages.
Before the appearance of candidates, the Bomb Disposal Squad had cleared the entire campus after inspection. Walk-through gates were installed at entry points, while four medical camps had been set up to deal with any emergencies.
According to the arrangements, male candidates entered through the Sindhology Gate, while female candidates used the Station Road entry point. Adequate seating and parking facilities were also arranged for parents.
The University’s security staff, assisted by police personnel, performed their duties during the test, while traffic management was handled by the traffic police.
Separate blocks were set up for the 1,801 female candidates at the Institute of Biochemistry, Institute of Biotechnology, Department of Media & Communication Studies and Institute of English Language & Literature. The 7,540 male candidates were accommodated in the Faculty of Arts, Department of Zoology, M.A. Kazi Institute of Chemistry and Faculty of Engineering & Technology.
According to Director of the Sindh University Testing Centre Dr Aftab Chandio, the results of the first phase of the entry test will be released the same day.The second phase will be held on October 19, it was announced.
