SU, HEC roll out National Outreach Programme for young faculty

The University of Sindh Jamshoro in collaboration with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad has launched the National Outreach Programme for Faculty (NOPF) for lecturers and assistant professors of public sector universities.

The four-week training programme began on Monday (Jan 26) at the Audio-Visual Room of the Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair, University of Sindh and will continue until Feb 18, 2026.

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri inaugurated the training program. Director of the National Academy of Higher Education, HEC Islamabad Mr. Munir Ahmed Mirjat and Vice-Chancellor, University of Larkano Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh participated as special guests.

In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri thanked the Director NAHE for the support of HEC and appreciated Professor Dr. Arfana Mallah for ensuring the quality and effective coordination of the program.

He advised the participating faculty members to pursue continuous learning and stated that sustained professional development was essential for success in the teaching profession.

He reiterated the University of Sindh’s commitment to transforming teaching and learning practices by equipping young faculty members with modern knowledge and skills.

Dr. Marri stated that continuous training and skill enhancement of faculty members were a guarantee of quality higher education without doubt.

He said universities progress only when teachers were equipped with contemporary knowledge, effective teaching methodologies and research skills.

Such training programs, he added, played a vital role in aligning young faculty with international standards.

He further emphasized that the University of Sindh was prioritizing modern training, technology and skill development to bring positive change in teaching and learning processes.

Director NAHE–HEC Islamabad Dr. Munir Ahmed Mirjat stressed the commitment of NAHE to strengthening the teaching capacities of young faculty members and equipping them with modern pedagogical skills.

He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the University of Sindh and the training team for their cooperation.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Larkano Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh appreciated the efforts of the organizers and highlighted the importance of faculty capacity building.

He also expressed his desire to organize similar training programs at the University of Larkano.

Earlier, the Training Coordinator Professor Dr. Arfana Mallah welcomed the guests, participants and resource persons. She thanked Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh and HEC Director Dr. Munir Ahmed Mirjat along with Pro Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons and administrative officials, whose support made the training program possible. She highlighted the importance of the four-week comprehensive training program and encouraged participants to fully benefit from this opportunity for professional development.

She further informed that the training program comprised 30 participants and 8 senior resource persons, who will conduct 72 sessions over four weeks, covering key higher education themes such as teaching methodologies, curriculum development, communication skills, artificial intelligence and innovative teaching models.

SU Registrar Sajid Qayoom Memon, Dr. Abdul Razaque Channa, Noor Amna Malik, Sohail Mangi, Dr. Rehana Mallah, Saeed Ahmed Mangi, Dr. Faiz Brohi, Dr. Fatima Rehan Dar and others were also present on the occasion.
