Sindh University hosts UNDP-backed plastic circularity consultation
The University of Sindh hosted an academic consultation on “Plastic Circularity and Innovation” on Thursday in collaboration with the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), a UNDP-supported initiative.
According to a notification issued by the Bureau of STAGS, the event aimed to mobilise academic institutions to contribute to plastic waste management through research collaboration, student engagement and structured partnerships with MSMEs and government stakeholders.
The consultation focused on identifying research gaps, promoting student-led awareness campaigns and source segregation and supporting local data generation for policy planning.
As many as 10 students from each department including Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Sociology, International Relations, Zoology, Chemistry, Plant Sciences, and Freshwater Biology participated in the workshop.
Dr Nusrat Ehsan, Dr Nasreen Ehsan, Dr Farzad Bakhshian, Dr Mohammad Raza Shafi, Dr Hamid Raza Ghasemi, Dr Seyed Ali Akbar, Dr Mohammad Raza and Dr Noor Alavi were also present on the occasion.
The event was held at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, Arts Faculty Building of the varsity.
