Academic Convocation 2019-2023 concludes on a high note at SU A total of 2387 alumni including 260 MPhil, PhD receive their degrees in two days
The academic convocation 2019-2023 continued on the second consecutive day at the University of Sindh Jamshoro on Tuesday, celebrating the achievements of graduates with the awarding of degrees, gold and silver medals to deserving students.
The prestigious Allama I.I. Kazi Special Award for University Top Gold Medal was presented to four outstanding students, with two awarded on December 23 and another two on December 24.
Gold medals were distributed to top achievers across various Faculties, including Arts, Commerce & Business Administration, Education, Engineering & Technology, Islamic Studies, Law, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy and Social Sciences.
A total of 81 gold medals were conferred, including Campus Top distinctions and the Dr. N.A. Balouch Special Award.
In addition, 367 silver medals were awarded to graduates across all Faculties, acknowledging their remarkable performance.
Over 1715 students received their bachelor’s and master’s degrees during the 2nd consecutive day of convocation, which marked a significant milestone in their academic journeys.
Vice-Chancellor Professor (Emeritus) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, along with Pro-Vice Chancellors, deans, and other dignitaries, conferred degrees and medals.
Graduates from affiliated campuses also received their degrees in the presence of their respective Pro-Vice Chancellors and focal persons.
Addressing the convocation, Dr. Kalhoro celebrated the achievements of graduating students and lauded the faculty for their dedication.
He emphasized the convocation as a recognition of students’ hard work and a testament to the university's commitment to preparing them for real-world challenges.
He highlighted the University of Sindh's recent accomplishments, including securing major research grants, initiating impactful projects, advancing sustainability through a 2.45 MW solar energy project, and establishing incubation centers to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
He also announced the introduction of 15 new academic programs aligned with market demands and shared that over Rs. 858 million in scholarships had been awarded to more than 15,000 deserving students.
He underscored the university’s role in promoting social responsibility, research and innovation, urging graduates to contribute to national progress with dedication and integrity.
He commended faculty members, staff and organizing committees for making the convocation a memorable success.
It may be noted that a total of 2387 degrees including 260 MPhil/ PhD were awarded to the students in both days.
The event included stage proceedings conducted by Dr. Mehmood ul Hassan Mughal and Dr. Tania Mushtaque.
