
Sindh Cabinet approves 100 acres of land for SU Thatta Campus at subsidized rate
The Sindh Cabinet in its meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday approved the allotment of 100 acres of land for the establishment of the University of Sindh’s Thatta Campus. The land located between Makli and Thatta will be allocated at a subsidized rate of Rs 2.5 million per acre.
The cabinet also decided to revise the policy for land allotment for educational purposes, offering it at 50 percent of its market value. Under the new policy, land valued at Rs 2.5 million per acre will now be offered at Rs 1.2 million per acre for educational institutions.
Welcoming the cabinet’s decision, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh Professor Dr. Khalil ur Rehman Khoumbati expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and the provincial cabinet for their support in advancing higher education in underdeveloped area like that of Thatta.
“This is a historic milestone for the people of Thatta and its adjoining areas,” Dr. Khoumbati said and added that by approving land for the Thatta Campus, the Sindh government had taken a visionary step towards providing access to quality education in a region that had long deserved such opportunities.
He further assured that the University of Sindh was fully committed to establishing a state-of-the-art campus on the land allotted, which will serve as a beacon of learning and development for thousands of young students in the area.
On the other hand, PVC SU Thatta Campus Professor Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi has congratulated the VC Dr Khoumbati on getting land after his unwavering efforts he made in this regard.
