Sindh University Campus Thatta held independence celebrations under the theme “Marka-e-Haq”, as part of a two-week program marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
A trilingual (Sindhi, Urdu, English) speech competition was held, which was presided over by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Misbah Bibi Qureshi.
She praised students’ enthusiasm and urged them to uphold the values of truth, courage and unity reflected in the theme.
Participants spoke on topics ranging from “The True Meaning of Freedom” and “Role of Youth in Nation Building to Cultural Diversity – Strength of Pakistan”. Sindhi, Urdu and English speeches highlighted Pakistan’s struggle for independence, sacrifices of martyrs and the responsibilities of freedom.
Tributes were paid to the martyrs of Banyan Al Marsoos for their bravery and sacrifice. The campus was festively decorated and a patriotic rally featuring faculty, students and staff carrying national flags added to the spirit.
Dr. Qureshi lauded the event’s role in fostering critical thinking, patriotism and communication skills among students. Celebrations will continue with cultural, academic and sports activities in the coming days.
