Badin, August 26, 2025 -  Commissioner Hyderabad, Mr. Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Badin, Mr. Yasir Qazi, visited the University of Sindh Laar Campus Badin, where the worthy Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Prof. Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbhati, warmly welcomed them along with HoDs and senior faculty members and campus dignitaries.

The Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner were given a detailed tour of the campus. They visited all departments: English, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, and Commerce. They interacted with faculty members and were briefed on academic activities, future development options and the ongoing challenges. 

Dr. Khoumbati thoroughly deliberated on the current developments regarding the PC-1, designed for the establishment of the campus on 100 acres of land already allotted to the campus. He emphasised that until the approval and implementation of PC-1, it is essential to renovate the existing infrastructure for its sustainability and effective utilisation, coupled with mud-filling in the depressed areas, a drainage system, and the provision of internet facilities.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the pressing issue of the campus drainage system, emphasising that effective drainage and maintenance are necessary to safeguard the campus premises during the rainy season. Dr. Khoumbhati reiterated the urgency of the campus challenges with strong conviction and expressed hope for the resolution of the problems through district development projects. 

The Commissioner of Hyderabad, Mr. Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, acknowledged the concerns raised by the Vice Chancellor and assured that the administration will extend full cooperation for the development of the campus. He underlined the importance of higher education and the socio-economic uplift of the region and appreciated the University of Sindh’s efforts in expanding quality education to the people of Badin and the hinterland districts.

Deputy Commissioner Badin, Mr. Yasir Qazi, also positively assured his cooperation for the support and development of the campus.  and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to facilitate the provision of basic amenities and infrastructure improvements at the Laar Campus.
