VC lauds Sindh University boxer for winning national gold
A young boxer from the University of Sindh called on Vice-Chancellor Fateh Muhammad Marri after securing a gold medal at a national-level boxing event, with the university chief praising the athlete’s performance and encouraging him to continue striving for excellence.
Student boxer Zarar Baloch accompanied by Director Sports Ajved Bhatti called on the vice-chancellor at his office where they presented the medal and briefed him on the achievement.
Dr Marri congratulated the athlete and said the victory had brought pride and recognition to the university at the national level. He observed that sports played a vital role in promoting discipline, confidence and physical fitness among students.
He said universities should encourage students to participate in sports alongside academic pursuits so that they could develop balanced personalities. He added that achievements in national competitions enhanced the reputation of educational institutions and inspired other students to pursue sports.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the university would continue supporting talented athletes by providing facilities and opportunities for training and participation in national tournaments. He advised the young boxer to work harder for upcoming countrywide competitions and aim for even greater achievements.
The student who studies in the Department of Artificial Intelligence thanked the university administration for its encouragement and support.
It may be noted that Zarar Baloch recently won the gold medal in the 75kg weight category of the Under-18 competition at the National Boxing Championship 2026, organized by the Pakistan Army in collaboration with the Pakistan Boxing Federation.
The championship, which began on March 31 in Hyderabad, brought together young boxing talent from across the country competing in various weight categories, providing a platform for emerging athletes to showcase their abilities.
