World Pharmacists Day celebrated at SU; pharmacists play a vital role in healthcare, says VC

The Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organised a ceremony to celebrate World Pharmacists Day. The event was held at the faculty auditorium under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Future” and was presided over by Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri (TI).

Addressing the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said that the Faculty of Pharmacy is a highly important faculty of the University of Sindh, was established in 1974 and has completed its Golden Jubilee. He said pharmacists played a vital role in the healthcare sector and contributed significantly to ensuring safe and effective treatment for patients.

He said pharmacists played an important role in maintaining the quality of medicines, ensuring their proper use and guiding patients. He said pharmacists were synonymous with commitment, as they were directly associated with saving human lives.

Referring to the services of Ibn - e- Sina in the field of medicine, the Vice Chancellor said that his contributions were a bright chapter in history. His role and efforts served as an excellent example for pharmacists, from which they should seek guidance, he added.

Dr Marri said that a degree in Pharmacy carried great importance and that numerous career opportunities were available for graduates in both the public and private sectors. He urged students to focus wholeheartedly on their studies so that they could secure successful career opportunities on the basis of their capabilities.

Earlier, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Ghoto, welcomed the Vice Chancellor in his address and thanked him for his guidance and encouragement. He said the medical field was incomplete without the role of pharmacists.

He said the purpose of celebrating World Pharmacists Day was not only to pay tribute to the work and role of pharmacists but also to encourage and motivate them.

On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Dean and faculty members jointly cut a cake to mark World Pharmacists Day.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat presented by students Munzar and Ehma. The event was moderated by Aisha Faisal, Rabia Javed, Pareesa and Lawiza.

An exhibition of projects prepared by students from different departments of the faculty was also organised. Vice Chancellor Dr Marri visited the exhibition, received briefings from students about their projects and appreciated their efforts.

The projects covered various pharmacy-related topics, including patient safety, the proper use of medicines, the causes of diseases and measures for their prevention, the use and benefits of various herbs in medicines, and other related subjects.

The ceremony was attended by department heads and faculty members, including Dr Ubaid-ur-Rehman Mughal, Dr Akram Khatri, Dr Aslam Solangi, Dr Imran Suhriyani, Dr Mazhar Memon, Dr Ahmed Shah, Dr Salman Rajput, Dr Jameela Jamali, Dr Shoaib Umrani, Dr Narendar Sharma, Dr Saeed Ahmed Lakho, Dr Shah Bibi, Dr Waqar Sabzoi, Dr Maharaja and Dr Mudashir Shah.
