SU holds 41st meeting of its Academic Council, unanimously resolves to conduct first semester examinations 2020 via virtual mode

The 41st meeting of the Academic Council of Sindh University was held via a zoom cloud option under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat.

 

After the detailed deliberations, the meeting unanimously resolved to conduct the first semester examinations 2020 via online mode based on an oral presentation.

 

Confirming the minutes of its previous meeting, the house decided not to opt for a pre-entrance test for admission to the academic year 2021, if the Pandemic situation persisted; if not, it resolved to act as usual.

 

The meeting also accorded its approval for the revised syllabi of the SU Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS) to accelerate the pace of the ongoing process of its accreditation.

 

The house also extended its positive nod to implementation of the Uniform Semester System Policy to come into effect from the upcoming academic year as per directives of Higher Education Commission Islamabad.

 

The resolutions made there-in would be placed before SU Syndicate in its upcoming meeting for consideration and final decision.

 

The meeting extended accolades to Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat, Registrar Dr. Ameer Ali Abro, Director Sindh University IT Services Centre  Prof. Dr. Yasir Arfat Malkani, Director ORIC Dr. Zeeshan Ali Bhatti and Director QEC Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain Nizamani upon successful completion of the academic semester through online mode and for having developed and designed efficient LMS alternative to offshoot the pandemic obstacle in the class flow.

 

The house expressed grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of Dr. Aftab Ahmed Charan,  Assistant Professor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Sindh University Campus Dadu due to Covid-19.

 

Pro Vice Chancellors and Focal Persons of all SU additional campuses, Deans of all Faculties, SU Registrar, relevant Administrative Heads, all Academic Heads, Professors, Learned Members of SU Syndicate, Members of the Academic Council itself and other relevant staff participated in the meeting.

 

Those in attendance eulogized the leadership role of Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat in the ongoing challenging times and expressed their absolute trust in his person and pledge of allegiance to Alma Mater Sindh University through every thick and thin.

 

Congratulating all, especially the SU IT team upon this collective team-effort, Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat said ” We have been able to save one precious year of the poor students in the face of all odds. This has become possible only because of guidance by HEC Islamabad and by across-the-board support and cooperation of faculty and administration of the Varsity”. ” Together we rock” is what the Vice Chancellor said as he profusely thanked all to conclude the meeting.
