Orientation for fresh students held at SU

The University of Sindh, Jamshoro organized an orientation programme for the newly-enrolled students for the academic year 2025 on Thursday.

SU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbhati was present as chief guest in the orientation ceremony held at Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Convention Centre.

During the orientation ceremony, students captivated the audience with their performances, singing various songs that filled the auditorium with energy. As they sang, thousands of students in the main auditorium turned on the lights of their mobile phones, creating a mesmerizing ambiance that added a unique charm to the event and made the day truly memorable.

The audience swayed to the rhythm of the music, their enthusiasm reflecting the excitement of the new academic journey ahead. The combination of melodious voices and dazzling lights created an unforgettable moment, filling the air with joy and unity. 

Cheers and applause echoed through the hall as students showcased their musical talents, making the event lively and engaging. The magical ambiance, created by the harmony of voices and shimmering lights, turned the orientation ceremony into a truly spectacular experience. 

In his speech, the VC Dr Khoumbhati said addressing the students that they came there on the campus with a dream to achieve success.

“Our commitment is to turn your dreams into reality and the teachers will devote their abilities to serve you for the next four years”, he said and added the day was very significant for newly-admitted students.

“You got the chance for studying higher education and keep remembering those millions of youths who don’t have such an opportunity to get into university education,” he said.Dr Khoumbhati said that the administration would facilitate each student as main stakeholders to serve them, adding that studying at the university level were very different from the kind of education “they have received until now.”He said the students would have the opportunity in polishing their skills by participating in seminars and workshops along with regular classes.

He said that allotment process at hostels will be started soon in order to provide the new students with the accommodation facility.

He announced a free internet facility to the hostels and said that he will ensure provision of quality food to the students living in the dormitories.

“After Eid, we will organize a job fair and many final year students will get internships and jobs in different reputed companies and industries”, the VC said and added that skill development programs will also be started.

Dr Khoumbhati said that from Friday, the university was launching a plantation drive, which will continue till March 2025 and approximately 10,000 saplings will be planted during the period.

“We are ready to facilitate the students but the thing they have to do is simply to work hard, keep friendship with books and study hard", he said.

Addressing on the occasion, SU Registrar Professor Dr Mushtaque Ali Jariko said that students arrived at the University of Sindh with a dream to achieve success and they would take measures to turn their dreams into reality and the teachers would devote their abilities to serve them for the next four years.“This day is very significant for newly enrolled students as they got the chance for studying higher education and keep remembering those millions of youths who don’t have such an opportunity to get into university education,” he said.

Students were briefed about the co-curricular and extracurricular activities that the SU offers to its students, including sports and cultural events. The aim of these activities is to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle among students and enhance their personal and social development.

The orientation ceremony was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Main Campus Professor Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Professor Dr Ghulam Ali Buriro, Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Leghari, Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ali Leghari, Dr Ayaz Samo, Dr Pasand Ali Khoso, Dr Muhammad Younis Leghari and many other faculty members.
