Two-day sports gala of SU’s Engineering Faculty concludes successfully

A two-day sports gala organized by the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, University of Sindh concluded successfully on Wednesday with an enthusiastic display of student talent and sporting spirit.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Marri presided over the concluding ceremony. Students participated in a variety of games including cricket, chess, tug of war, badminton and several other activities. Competitions for boys and girls were held separately at the PCB Ground and the Hyder Bux Jatoi Pavilion, where students showcased teamwork, energy and discipline.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Marri praised the students for their vibrant participation and acknowledged the importance of such events in university life.

He said the sports gala reflected the energy and determination of Sindh University’s youth.

He added that sports helped promote a healthy academic environment, enhanced leadership qualities and built character.

He observed that students performed with remarkable passion and competitiveness and noted that such events strengthened unity and a sense of belonging among the campus community.

Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology Prof. Dr. Lachhman Das Dhomeja said the sports gala was organized to encourage students to engage in physical and recreational activities alongside academics.

He said that the faculty aims to provide an environment where students could explore both educational and extracurricular excellence.

He said that the event showcased the discipline and sportsmanship of the participating students.

He further highlighted that the faculty would continue to promote such opportunities regularly and emphasized that sports contribute directly to students’ confidence, teamwork and mental well-being.

Dr. Arifa Bhutto appreciated the efforts of the organizers and the enthusiasm of the players and said that the sports gala reflected the diverse talents of students and their ability to balance studies with physical activities.

She added that such events motivated students to stay active and engaged on campus.

She observed that the participation of both boys and girls demonstrated the university’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities.

She further said that encouraging young people in sports helped develop resilience, focus and positive competition.

In the end, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri distributed shields and awards among the winning students amid applause and cheerful celebration.

On the occasion, Dr. Kamran Taj Pathan, Dr. Mudasir Memon, Dr. Abdul Waheed Mahesar, several teachers and a large number of students were also present.
