SU’s Englican Talent Hunt Program 2025 concluded with vibrant performances

The Institute of English Language and Literature (IELL), University of Sindh, organized the closing ceremony of its “Englican Talent Hunt Program 2025”, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Marri participated as chief guest.

Held at the Sindhology Auditorium, the event featured tableaux, a drama and several creative performances that kept the audience thoroughly engaged.

The Englican Talent Hunt Program includes activities such as picture interpretation, poetry composition, academic terminology quizzes and declamation contests in English, Urdu and Sindhi.

Students shortlisted through various phases of the program participated enthusiastically and received applause and appreciation for their achievements with several performances bringing smiles to the faces of the audience.

In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Marri expressed pleasure at the diverse talents displayed by the students of the Institute of English Language and Literature and said he was delighted to see students demonstrating confidence, creativity and strong communication skills.

He noted that such initiatives enriched academic life, helped students overcome stage fear, promoted multilingual expression and encouraged healthy competition.

He added that talent-based activities sharpened critical thinking, enhanced emotional as well as intellectual growth, strengthened cultural understanding, prepared students for leadership roles, inspired academic excellence and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to holistic education.

Director IELL Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Soomro in his address said the Englican Talent Hunt Program was designed to recognize and foster the varied abilities of students.

He said the purpose of the initiative was to engage students in positive and meaningful activities and ensure they made productive use of their time.

He added that applications were invited two months earlier and participants were shortlisted after several stages of evaluation. He further stated that such programs helped build confidence, improve linguistic competence, enhance teamwork and discipline, and encourage students to explore creativity beyond textbooks.

Former Director IELL Prof. Dr. Tarique Hassan Umrani also spoke on the occasion, appreciating the institute’s efforts to continue promoting intellectual and artistic development.

He said talent hunt programs preserve literary heritage, support students’ personal growth, enhance emotional intelligence, strengthen academic culture, and provide platforms that amplify student voices.

At the end of the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor distributed shields, certificates and awards among teachers and the winning students. The event was attended by PVC Main Campus Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, PVC Laar Campus Badin Prof. Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbati, Dean Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi, Director Institute of Sindhology Dr. Fayaz Latif Chandio, Dr. Ghulam Ali Buriro, Dr. Sumera Umrani, Dr. Samina Khokhar, Dr. Ellahi Bux Gopang, Dr. Saira Chandio, Dr. Sanaullah Ansari and others.
