SU’s Allama I. I. Kazi Chair hosts lecture on “Literature as an Art Form”
The Allama I. I. Kazi Chair, University of Sindh, Jamshoro organized a thought-provoking lecture titled “Literature as an Art Form” as part of its ongoing Allama I. I. Kazi Lecture Series. The event held at Dr. Abdul Jabbar Junejo Hall of the Sindhi Department reflected the Chair’s dedication to promoting scholarly dialogue, artistic understanding and intellectual inquiry inspired by the legacy of the founder Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh.
In his presidential address, PVC Laar Campus Badin Prof. Dr. Khalil ur Rahman Khoumbati praised Allama I. I. Kazi Chair for organizing meaningful academic programs. He endorsed the key ideas shared in the lecture and suggested expanding future discussions to include the growing digital and technological dimensions of literature in modern cultural contexts.
Faculty member at the Institute of Art & Design Hisamuddin Mirani who was keynote speaker examined literature within the wider landscape of the arts, beginning with foundational concepts of art, its structure and its aesthetic principles.
He traced the development of literature as an art form and discussed the creative and intellectual processes that shape literary expression.
He further explored how literature reflect human experience and influenced imagination, thought and cultural understanding. His lecture was widely appreciated for its coherence, clarity and depth.
Welcoming the guests, Director of the Allama I. I. Kazi Chair Dr. Rushdullah Shah Makhmoor Bukhari highlighted the Chair’s objectives and emphasized its mission to advance research, critical thought and academic exchange on themes central to Allama I. Kazi's literary, philosophical and cultural contributions.
He also shared updates on the Chair’s recent activities and its plans to continue hosting such lectures to enrich academic discourse across the university.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to the participants and a reaffirmation of the Chair’s commitment to promoting educational, artistic and intellectual pursuits that honour the enduring legacy of Allama I. I. Kazi.
