SU ushers in new era with launch of CBT
The University of Sindh took a significant leap into digitized academia on Thursday as the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri inaugurated a state-of-the-art Computer-Based Testing (CBT) system at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Marking a departure from traditional paper-based exams, the Vice-Chancellor formally launched the new online testing platform by clicking the 'enter' key on a computer. The system is designed to modernize the examination process for both admissions and recruitment.
During the inaugural ceremony, the Director of the Sindh University Testing Centre (SUTC) Dr. Aftab Chandio provided a comprehensive briefing to the VC.
He detailed the future conduct of various university tests on the new digital platform and outlined its operational features.
The system's efficacy was put to the test immediately after its launch. A cohort of 35 enrolled PhD candidates from six diverse departments including Genetics, Fresh Water Biology & Aquatic Science, Criminology, International Relations, Economics and Physiology successfully took the university-based graduate assessment test (GAT) Subject Test on the computers.
Simultaneously, 12 candidates took the computer-based test for the appointment of Teaching Assistants in the Department of Public Administration, showcasing the system's versatility for recruitment purposes.
Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri personally inspected the examination centers where the tests were being conducted. He expressed his complete satisfaction with the smooth rollout and operation of the new CBT system and praised the initiative as a crucial step forward for the university.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Main Campus Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, Director Institute of Mathematics & Computer Science Prof. Dr. Abdul Waseem Shaikh, Prof. Umeed Ali Rind, Prof. Rafique Mallah, Abdul Rehman Nangraj and others were also present on the occasion.
