Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Marri has expressed his firm resolve to enhance the quality of research, improve academic standards and position the university prominently at both national and international levels.

He said that the University of Sindh had always prioritized quality over quantity in higher education and research, adding that despite financial and administrative constraints, the institution was moving forward by making optimal use of the resources available to it.

He said this while addressing a meeting of Deans of various Faculties, Directors of Institutes/ Centers, Heads of Departments and teachers at the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, Arts Faculty Building on Tuesday.

He urged heads of departments to effectively utilize all available resources to raise academic and research standards on the campus.

Emphasizing the need to prioritize research and development, the Vice-Chancellor said that a substantial portion of government grants should be allocated for research, terming it the backbone of modern universities.

He also highlighted the importance of comprehensive business, administrative and strategic planning to ensure long-term growth, sustainability and institutional stability.

Dr Fateh Marri stated that meaningful improvement in educational standards could not be achieved through individual efforts alone but required the collective support and active participation of all teachers.

He announced that the university would strictly ensure a minimum of 75 percent attendance for students to be eligible to appear in semester examinations.

During the meeting, teachers were given the opportunity to raise questions and share their concerns if there were any. The Vice-Chancellor responded to their queries in detail and assured them that academic and administrative challenges would be addressed through consultation and collective collaboration.

The meeting was also attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Main Campus Professor Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Nanak Ram and Dean Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Muhammad Khan Sangi among others.
