Sindh Education Minister orders comprehensive renovation plan for century-old Dr. N.A Baloch Model School

Sindh Minister for Education Sardar Ali Shah paid a detailed visit to Dr. N.A. Baloch Model School working under the University of Sindh, where he was warmly received by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri, who accompanied him on an inspection of the school’s various sections.

During the visit, the provincial minister reviewed the historic school building, classrooms, laboratories and corridors. Expressing concern over the current condition of the structure, he announced immediate renovation measures and pledged to equip the institution with modern facilities.

At one point during the visit, he sat quietly at a desk in one of the classrooms for a few moments, reminiscing about his own student-life days. He shared that he was an alumnus of Dr. N.A. Baloch Model School and felt immense joy returning to his alma mater after many years. However, he also expressed regret over the deteriorating state of the historic building and stated that he should have visited earlier to assess its condition and initiate restoration work.

Sardar Ali Shah directed the relevant team within his ministry to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the school at the earliest and prepare a detailed proposal for complete renovation. The objective, he said, was to secure budgetary approval and restore the historic institution to its former stature.

He noted with pride that numerous graduates of the school were currently serving in key positions across various ministries and departments throughout the country and abroad.

“Improving the quality of education remains one of my foremost priorities, as strengthening the province’s education system is the most effective way to serve Sindh and its people,” he said and added that teacher recruitments had been carried out strictly on merit and that tangible steps were being taken to upgrade basic facilities in schools.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every young person in Sindh completes at least intermediate-level education, adding that a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to achieve this goal.

He also pointed out that practical measures had been introduced to reduce dropout rates in schools and colleges.

Announcing concrete steps, he stated that renovation work at Dr. N.A. Baloch Model School will commence soon and new furniture will also be provided to improve the learning environment.

On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri remarked that the University of Sindh had periodically undertaken maintenance work on the school building.

“However, the structure is more than a century old, it now requires extensive renovation and the provision of new furniture on a larger scale,” the VC said. He said that the role of the provincial Education Ministry was crucial in this regard.
