Spring Plantation Drive-2026 inaugurated at Sindh University

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri on Wednesday inaugurated the Spring Plantation Drive 2026 at University of Sindh and reaffirmed the varsity’s commitment to environmental sustainability and a greener campus.

Organized by the Plantation & Beautification Committee, the drive included plantation of indigenous trees- Sukhchain, Neem and Sheesham, along with shrubs such as Nerium and Jatropha.

About 1,000 plants were planted at three key locations: Tree Avenue Road near Zero Point, the road divider from the Central Library to the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences and the divider from Abdullah Haroon Road towards the International Hostel.

The initiative aims to improve air quality, reduce dust and pollution, enhance biodiversity and provide a healthier learning environment for students and staff.

Deans, heads of departments, syndicate members, SUTA officials, faculty, officers and students attended the event. The drive was coordinated by the convener of the Plantation & Beautification Committee Prof Dr Rabia Asma Memon with support from Secretary Munawar Hussain Rajar and the university’s Plantation Wing.
