SU mechanics rebuild old point bus; VC Dr Marri lauds workshop staff
Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri on Tuesday visited the varsity’s transport workshop to inspect a point bus that has been completely refurbished by the institution’s own mechanics.
The vice-chancellor was received by Transport Incharge Dr Baradi Waryani and other staff members at the workshop. During the visit, he closely examined the bus, which had been extensively repaired and rebuilt by the workshop’s technical staff.
According to the details, the mechanics removed the entire worn-out body of the old point bus and replaced it with a newly fabricated structure, effectively transforming the vehicle into a fresh and serviceable unit. The rebuilding process included installing a new outer body frame, roof panels, side panels, doors, windows, windscreen and flooring. The interior was also upgraded with newly fitted passenger seats, window fittings, electrical wiring and lighting, while the bus was repainted to give it a renewed appearance.
The vice-chancellor boarded the stationary bus and inspected its interior, including the seating arrangement, windows and finishing work with unfathomable interest and expressed satisfaction over the quality of the refurbishment carried out at the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Marri said it was encouraging to see that the university possessed highly skilled and experienced mechanics, electricians, denters and painters capable of carrying out extensive repair and rebuilding work on vehicles. He noted that the transformation of an old bus into a fully functional one reflected the dedication and technical competence of the workshop staff.
He said that repairing and refurbishing vehicles locally not only saved significant public resources but also ensured the continued availability of transport facilities for students and employees. The vice-chancellor added that the university would continue to support the transport workshop so that it could further improve its capacity and efficiency.
Dr Marri praised the mechanics and other employees of the transport section for their commitment and professionalism, describing their work as an example of efficient utilization of institutional resources. He said such initiatives helped extend the life of vehicles and reduced the need for costly new purchases.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the university’s transport fleet in good condition to facilitate safe and reliable commuting for students. He urged the workshop staff to maintain the same level of dedication in future repair and maintenance work.
