The University of Sindh has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and student-friendly reopening of the campus after the summer vacation, with a strong emphasis on academic discipline, quality teaching and enhanced student support across all departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

The roadmap was finalized at a meeting of the heads of departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri (TI) at the concerned dean office here on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the commencement of the new academic session and resolved that regular classes would begin from the very first day after the summer break without any delay. The participants agreed that every possible facility would be extended to students to ensure a productive and uninterrupted learning environment from the outset of the second semester.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Marri directed all heads of departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of academic activities and ensure that teaching schedules were implemented strictly in accordance with the academic calendar.

He stressed that faculty members should remain available in their offices until the close of official working hours every day so that students could receive academic guidance, mentoring and counseling whenever required. He said a teacher's role extended beyond classroom instruction and included continuous support for students' academic and professional development.

The vice-chancellor emphasized the importance of creating a conducive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, scientific inquiry and innovation. He urged department heads to motivate faculty members to adopt interactive teaching methods, strengthen laboratory-based learning, promote research culture and encourage students to participate in scientific projects and academic competitions.

He also underscored the need for maintaining punctuality, academic discipline and regular classroom attendance, stating that these elements were essential for improving educational standards and producing competent graduates capable of addressing contemporary scientific and technological challenges.

He called upon academic leaders to identify departmental requirements well in advance and ensure the availability of laboratories, classrooms, teaching equipment and other academic resources before the reopening of the university. He further directed departments to strengthen student-teacher engagement and maintain close coordination with the university administration to resolve academic issues promptly.

The participants reiterated their vow to implement the university's academic policies and work collectively to provide students with a high-quality educational experience in a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment.
