Sindh University holds bilingual singing competition, Defence Day programme
The University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organised an inter-departmental bilingual singing competition on Thursday, featuring students from various departments and institutes and providing them an opportunity to showcase their vocal talent in Sindhi and Urdu.
The competition was organised by the Bureau of Students Tutorial, Guidance/Counseling Services and Co-curricular Activities (STAGS) at the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of the Arts Faculty Building. A total of 47 students from various departments, institutes and centres participated in the competition, with 26 students competing in the Sindhi-language category and 21 in the Urdu-language category.
In the Sindhi-language category, Ravi Kumar, a BS-II student of the Department of International Relations, secured the first position. Shahzad, a BS-III student of the Department of Urdu, stood second, while Munesh Kumar, a BS-IV student of the Department of Physiology and Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), secured third position.
In the Urdu-language category, Amjad Ali Lashari, a student of the Department of Political Science, won the first position. Kalyan Advani, a Pharm-D V student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, secured second position, while Syed Uzair Shah, a BS-IV student of the Institute of Biochemistry, stood third.
The event was followed by a singing programme organised in connection with Defence Day celebrations at the same auditorium at noon. The programme paid tribute to the courage, valour and sacrifices of Pakistan’s national heroes.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri (T.I) attended the Defence Day programme as the chief guest. The activities were organized by the Bureau of STAGS as part of the university’s co-curricular and national commemorative activities.
