Undergraduate students of the Department of Information Technology, University of Sindh, have received the ‘Best Paper of the Session’ certificate at the International Multidisciplinary Research Conference (IMRC-2026).

The award-winning students, Sahil Sajan, Muhammad Shoaib and Muhammad Anas, along with their teachers — Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr Lachhman Das Dhoomija, Dr Abdul Waheed Mahesar and Dr Arjumand Bano Soomro — met University of Sindh Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri (TI) at his Office and briefed him on their achievement.

The Vice Chancellor congratulated the students and their supervising teachers, saying that the achievement demonstrated the talent and capabilities of University of Sindh students and was an excellent example of the university’s high standards in teaching and research. He said the students had brought honour to the university through their outstanding performance.

Appreciating their research, he said the development of an effective and ethically grounded artificial intelligence application such as “ScudoKid” reflected the University of Sindh’s academic excellence and its growing commitment to social welfare.

The teachers and students thanked the Vice Chancellor for his guidance and encouragement. Sharing details of the conference, they said it was held from September 10 to 12, 2026, at the Bara Gali Summer Campus of the University of Peshawar.

The conference, titled “Use of AI to Protect Lives and Promote Peace: A Global Perspective”, was attended by scholars affiliated with more than 33 universities from Pakistan and abroad. University of Sindh undergraduate researchers Sahil Sajan, Muhammad Shoaib and Muhammad Anas presented their research project titled “ScudoKid”, an artificial intelligence-based application for parents to monitor children and ensure their digital safety.

The project was developed under the supervision of Prof Dr Abdul Waheed Mahesar and Dr Arjumand Bano Soomro. Following rigorous evaluation and review, the project was awarded the ‘Best Paper of the Session’ honour.

They further said research projects from renowned educational institutions of the country, including GIKI, COMSATS, University of Peshawar and Sarhad University, were also part of the competition.
