The Technology Incubation Center (TIC), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organised a seminar titled “The Online Career Formula: Skills, Branding and Freelancing” for final-year students, aimed at familiarising them with emerging online career opportunities and providing guidance on turning their skills into sources of income.

Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Dr Lachhman Das Dhomeja, attended the seminar as the Chief guest. In his address, Dr Dhomeja stressed the importance of providing students with practical exposure beyond the classroom and said that effective pathways should be created to provide them with opportunities in employment, freelancing, entrepreneurship and self-employment. He also advised students to make the most of online career opportunities.

On the occasion, Pashmina Rahim, a freelance trainer and mentor with extensive experience in digital marketing and social media, delivered a lecture on the topic. During the seminar, Ms Pashmina provided useful insights into online career opportunities, marketable skills, personal branding, the freelance economy, converting skills into income, and developing practical plans for starting a sustainable online career. She also explained how academic and technical skills could be aligned with the requirements of the current digital market and transformed into a professional online identity.

TIC Focal Person Dr Shazia Abbasi welcomed the Dean, the guest speaker, faculty members and students and highlighted the objectives of the seminar. She said that the seminar aimed to enhance skills, promote entrepreneurial capabilities, and strengthen digital employability and career readiness. She said that TIC was striving to empower students to become job creators rather than job seekers and enable them to benefit fully from the digital economy.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Chairman, Department of Information Technology Dr Zeeshan Bhatti.
