The 162nd meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, was held with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari (TI) in the chair. The meeting approved the award of degrees to more than 40 PhD and over 100 MPhil scholars.

Among the scholars approved for the award of PhD degrees in various disciplines are Abdul Raheem Bhurgari (Islamic Culture), Syed Ghulam Shah (Criminology), Muhammad Essa Memon and Abdul Aziz Chandio (Sindhi), Imdad Hussain Siddiqui and Tarique Mahmood Arain (Business Administration), Zubair Ahmed Memon, Farzana Mallah and Tahira Malik (Education), Anwar Ali Chandio, Shakoor Ahmed Solangi, Shahnawaz Baloch, Sassui and Khadim Ali Gishkori (Analytical Chemistry), Sumair Akbar Ali Memon (Microbiology), Sumera Noonari (Freshwater Biology and Fisheries), Sindhu Almas (Public Administration), Taufique Ahmed Channa (Sociology), Nazir Ahmed Siyal (Political Science), Maria Issani (Media and Communication Studies), Arbab Ali Laghari and Nasrullah (Health and Physical Education), among others.

The scholars approved for the award of MPhil degrees belong to the disciplines of English, Sindhi, Urdu, Arabic, Business Administration, Education, Information Technology, Islamic Culture, Botany, Physical Chemistry, Inoragnic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Zoology, Physiology, Freshwater Biology and Fisheries, Geography, Statistics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacology, Psychology, Public Administration, Gender Studies, International Relations, Media and Communication Studies, Political Science, Criminology and Pakistan Studies.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari congratulated the PhD and MPhil scholars, their supervisors and heads of departments on obtaining their degrees. He said that quality education and research play a fundamental role in the development of any nation. In the era of modern technology, he added, individuals can establish themselves through competence and capabilities.

He said that the doors of the world are open to competent scholars and that countless career opportunities are available to them. He added that a degree from the University of Sindh carries great significance, and its degree holders are serving in highly important positions in several countries around the world, as well as in their own country.

The Vice Chancellor said that the increasing number of students enrolling in MPhil and PhD programmes at the university and completing their research within the stipulated time was highly encouraging. He expressed confidence that the scholars who had earned their degrees after conducting research on various subjects would play their full role in the development and good name of the country.

He said that the University of Sindh not only provides opportunities for quality education and research but also awards degrees on time so that scholars can benefit from their qualifications.
