The University of Sindh will hold its Inter-Department Sports Gala on November 10, 2026. The decision was taken at an important meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri (T.I.) at the Senate Hall, Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. The meeting was attended by deans of various faculties, directors, heads of departments and their nominated representatives.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Marri emphasised the importance of students’ mental and physical development, stating that sports play a vital role in building a healthy society. He said that co-curricular activities, alongside academic pursuits, have a positive impact on students’ performance and abilities.
He said the Sports Gala  was an important university event and that its opening and closing ceremonies would be organised on a grand scale. Important government officials and administrative figures would be invited to attend the ceremonies.
The Vice Chancellor said the event aimed to encourage students to participate in sports, promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen interaction among different departments, and provide young people with opportunities to engage in positive activities and develop their abilities.
Dr. Marri appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Sports team and expressed the hope that its members would work with the same dedication to ensure the success of the event.
The meeting decided that competitions in cricket, table tennis, badminton, chess, tug of war, athletics, football, volleyball and basketball would be held during the Sports Gala. It was also decided that all departments would submit their team names and entry forms to the Directorate of Sports by November 5, 2026. All departments were urged to ensure maximum student participation in the scheduled competitions.
The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh’s Main Campus Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah; Deans of various faculties, Professor Dr. Nanikram, Professor Dr. Naheed Kaka, Professor Dr. Lachhman Das Dhomeja, Professor Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi and Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali Ghotto; Vice Chairman of the University of Sindh Sports Board Dr. Ghulam Ali Buriro; Director Sports (Boys) Ajved Ahmad Bhatti; Director Sports (Girls) Dr. Zareen Memon; Adviser Student Affairs (Boys) Dr. Muhammad Younis Laghari; and Adviser Student Affairs (Girls) Dr. Sumera Dero. Members and focal persons representing approximately 60 departments of the University of Sindh also attended the meeting.
The participants appreciated the Vice Chancellor’s initiative and assured him of their full cooperation in ensuring maximum student participation in the upcoming Inter-Department Sports Gala. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ghulam Ali Buriro.
