The Bureau of Students Tutorial Guidance / Counseling Services and Co-curricular Activities (STAGS) in collaboration with Sindh Sartyoon Welfare Society (SSWS), Thalassemia Care Centre, Badin and Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre, Karachi organized Thalassemia awareness seminar at Shaikh Ayaz auditorium of the varsity’s faculty of arts with VC-SU Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat in the Chair.

In his remarks as event president Dr. Burfat stressed opportune diagnostic moves as effective prevention strategies; adding that the world had up until then, made significant headway in the Thalassemia control and cure domain.

Dr. Muhammad Iqbal of Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Centre, Karachi said that one tragic personal experience inspired him to serve in Thalassemia sector. He said that unfortunately 2 billion populations in Pakistan suffered from Thalassemia.

Earlier, Director SSWS Shahana Bhurgri presented welcome note and shed light on the seminar aims and objectives.

SU Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Zareen Abbasi, Director STAGS Dr. Sumera Umrani, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Laghari and others were in attendance at the seminar.
