SU to conduct pre-entry test for admissions to M.Phil, PhD programs tomorrow
The pre-entrance test for admissions to 34 M.Phil and 28 PhD disciplines under the academic year 2024 would be conducted tomorrow (June 12) at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. A total of 918 candidates will participate with 784 aspiring for M.Phil and 134 for PhD programs.
Director Sindh University Testing Center (SUTC) Dr. Aftab Chandio said that all arrangements had been made to hold the test, including the establishment of four examination centers.
He said as per Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad’s general policy, the pre-entry test for enrollments to M.Phil and PhD programs was being taken by SUTC itself.
He said the Faculty of Engineering and Technology will host tests for admissions to M.Phil and PhD programs in Data Science, Electronics, Software Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering, adding that the Institute of English Language and Literature (IELL) had been designated for aspirants of admissions to M.Phil & PhD in English and Sindhi.
He said that the Institute of Commerce and Management (ICM) will also be an exam centre, where the test for admissions to M.Phil & PhD in Business Administration, Commerce, Pharmacy, Botany and Zoology will be conducted.
The director further said that the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS) will accommodate candidates from all the disciplines of Social Sciences, Education, Islamic Culture and Natural Sciences (excluding Zoology and Botany).
Dr. Chandio said that such PhD candidates who had already passed the GAT subject test taken by NTS will be exempted from taking the university’s entrance test. The test will commence at 9:30 AM.
The structure of the entrance test includes 50% subject-related questions, 20% general English, 15% qualitative reasoning and 15% analytical reasoning. The passing scores are set at 50% for M.Phil admissions and 60% for PhD admissions.
