SU Admissions Committee meets, appraises options for conduct of 2021 pre-entry test.
A high-grade meeting of Sindh University’s Admission Committee was held to contemplate options and the state of readiness for the conduct of the Pre-Entrance Test 2021. The house to this effect comprised of all learned Pro Vice Chancellors/Focal Persons of SU additional campuses, Deans of all teaching Faculties, and the other relevant Administrative Heads and their staff; while SU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat was in the Chair.
SU Director Admissions Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto apprised the house on the challenges they confronted as a consequence of Covid-19 and the recommendations that had emerged out of several sessions of Technical Committee meetings, proposing cancellation of the face-to-face convening of the Pre-entry Test, advocating that around 25000 candidates and an almost equal number of their parents/guardians were expected to turn up on the test day; and it would be almost impossible to ensure observance of SOPs at the given mass scale. He further informed that SU already had an efficient paperless/online admission mechanism in place that would cover the entire process without the need of physical visits/ presence of the candidates, excepting the conduct of test itself, which could well be substituted by aggregate grade percentage work out based on the scores of matric and intermediate examination results of the candidates.
The house resolved to table the proposal made for consideration and final decision to the Varsity’s Academic Council.
In his views on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat said he was both proud and pleased to witness his vision of an online-efficient campus fast turning into a tangible reality, adding that the same had turned out to be the biggest boon in the current Covid-19 times.
He thanked all present for their immense cooperation to him and appreciated the efforts of esteemed Admission Technical Committee, Director Admissions and his team, Director ITSC and his team, Director ORIC and his team and the staff of the Directorate of Admissions for their indefatigable hard work towards the improvement of systems at the Varsity.
