Career counselling linked with guaranteed success of students

Educationist and author of several books Dr Shahmurad Chandio has said that the importance of career counseling could not be denied and it was important because it gave information about students' interests, skills and personality, which could help them choose their favorite fields.

He said that career counselling was linked with guaranteed success of the students.

This he said while delivering a lecture on "Career counselling" at the Department of Geography, University of Sindh Jamshoro.

An associate professor at the Institute of Mathematics & Computer Science, educationist and author to several books Dr Shahmurad Chandio further said that in developed countries, along with education, proper guidance was also provided to the youth in a bid to improve their career.

He said despite having deficiencies in the basic education system in the province, universities had become the beacon of hope, but the youth in higher educational institutions were also deprived of career counselling.

He said that it was necessary to organize formal career counseling sessions in every academic department in universities from time to time.

Dr. Shahmurad Chandio further said that after doing intermediate, many students did not even know which field was the best for them, adding that the universities needed to guide them.

"Students do not know about the significance of academic fields after matriculation, intermediate and even graduation. We need to provide them with career counseling", he said and added that important guidance programs must be organized to impart such information to dispersed young blood.

A large number of male and female students including Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Agha Asad Noor, Dr. Saju Mal Meghwar, Saadullah Rahujo, Shaista Naz Khan, Raja Abdul Sami, and Shah Ali Shahshah were also attended the lecture.
