SU’s Bureau of STAGS holds Inter-Departmental Tri-lingual speech, Mili-Naghma competitions

The Bureau of Students' Tutorial, Guidance/Counseling Services & Co-Curricular Activities (STAGS), University of Sindh Jamshoro in collaboration with the Sindh Higher Education Commission, Department of History, Pakistan Study Center and Department of Political Science organized a highly engaging Inter-departmental Tri-lingual Speech and Mili-Naghma competition as part of the “Hamara Pakistan” program.

A large number of students participated and attended the event with enthusiasm and keenness, celebrating the spirit of patriotism.

The event commenced in the Auditorium of the Institute of Commerce & Management with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Professor Nazar Hussain Chandio, followed by Naat read by Ghulam Saqib Buriro and the National Anthem.

Later, Chairman of the Department of History Prof. Dr. Irfan Shaikh and Director of the Bureau of STAGS Prof. Dr. Sanober Rehman Shaikh delivered welcome addresses, wherein they extended their gratitude to the faculty members, students and judges for their participation and cooperation in making the event a success.

The competitions featured speeches in three languages—English, Sindhi, and Urdu—which were judged by two evaluators for each language. The winners in the speech competition were announced by the judges.

In English speech, Anfal Soomro of the Department of Political Science, Akash Gopang of the Institute of Law and Umer Ghani of the Institute of English Language & Literature got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Thus, in Sindhi speech competitions, Sajjad Laghari of the Institute of English Language & Literature, Muhammad Usama of the Department of Psychology and Nirmal Arif of the Institute of Law grabbed the first three positions respectively.

In the Urdu speech competition, Aiman of the Department of Urdu stood first, Mazia Shaikh of the Department of Economics stood second and Muskan of the Department of History stood third.

Moreover, the Mili-Naghma competition winners were also announced by the judges, according to the announcement, Jaffar Hussain of Pakistan Study Center got first position, Fatima, Humam Khan, Nimra, and Qayoom Ashfaq of the Department of Political Science jointly got second position and Faliha Qazi of the Institute of Business Administration received the third position.

Later, shields were presented to the position holders, while certificates were awarded to all participants, volunteers, moderators and collaborators in recognition of their efforts.

Among others, Director Pakistan Study Centre and well-known columnist Professor Dr Shuja Hussain Mahesar, Chairman Department of Political Science Prof. Dr Ghulam Akbar Mahesar, Dr Mubarak Ali Lashari, Prof. Jan-e-Alam Solangi, and Professor Khaleeq Mahesar were also present on the occasion.
