SU formally welcomes freshmen 2020 in a grand orientation ceremony

It is your great fortune to have been able to seek admission in higher education institution; as hardly ten percent youth in Pakistan become able to do so in their respective lifetimes. Learn to value the blessings you have, honor time, respect elders, own Sindh University as your kind and gracious Alma Mater put your entire energy in realizing your dreams and the success will come to kiss your feet”.

This VC-SU Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat said while addressing the 2020 batch of SU freshmen jam-packing Shaheed Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto Convention Centre hall of the varsity in an atmosphere which was both jubilant and electric. This enthralling, educative, and immensely radiant event was organized by the Bureau of Students Tutorial Guidance/ Counseling Services and Co-curricular Activities (STAGS) of the varsity.

Dr. Burfat further said that the University housed around 300 foreign Ph.D. teachers, featured the best conceivable facilities, and promised highly student-friendly protective environs accentuated by ultra-modern online procedures to facilitate and maximize the learning of the new entrants.

“I would insist upon you to love Sindh, love your beloved country Pakistan, and analyze all that comes your way at the touch-stone of your own experience; without falling prey to false and misleading propaganda running rampant in the given crucial times.” The Vice-Chancellor urged directing this remark to students.

Earlier, Director, Bureau of STAGS Dr. Sumera Umrani presented a welcome note and also shed light on the purpose, objectives, mission, and annual calendar; outlining thereby as to when and how the Bureau convened national and international events, celebrated all national days at a grand scale, and organized co-curricular and extra-curricular events.

Director Information Technology Services Centre Dr. Yasir Arfat Malkani filled in students on the IT infrastructure and amenities, online examination system and online admission process, online result mechanism, E-portal facility, quality enhancement measures, and other internet-related facets of the varsity.

Director SU students’ Financial Aid Office Dr. Fiza Qureshi informed students about HEC and other scholarship opportunities and procedures; sharing with them Vice Chancellor’s resolve not to let even a single student to come to the constraint of discontinuing education on account of lack of financial resource.

Chairperson SU Anti-Harassment Cell under the umbrella of Sindh government’s initiative of  ‘Protection of Women against Harassment at Workplace’ Dr. Nasim Aslam Channa shared with the students the provision of option to complain in case they faced harassed in any manner whatsoever, ensuring them of fullest cover in the given context.

In addition, a highly energizing, mesmerizing, and entertaining concert, skits on social issues, cultural dances, folk feats, and other creative individuals, pair, and group performances served as salient features of this important program.

Pro-vice-chancellors of various SU campuses, deans of various faculties, academic and administrative heads, and many other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.

Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan Mughal and several other students from diverse departments of the university moderated the proceedings of the program.
